School Site Council (SSC) General Information

The SSC shall carry out the following duties:
 
  • Obtain recommendation for and review the proposed Single Plan for Student
  • Achievement form all school advisory committees
  • Develop and approve the plan and related proposed expenditures in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations
  • Recommend the plan and expenditures to the Board of Education for approval
  • Provide ongoing review for the implementation of the plan with the principal, teachers, and other staff members
  • Make revisions and updates of the plan whenever the need arises
  • Submit the updated plan to Categorical Programs when it is due
  • Annually evaluate the progress made toward achieving school goals to raise the academic achievement for all students at our school
  • Carry out all other duties assigned to the council by the district Board of Education and by state law
  • Robert’s Rules of Order will be the parliamentary authority of the council
  • This council will comply with the Green Act in accordance with ED Code 35147(c)
 
 
The SSC shall be composed of equal number of elected members, selected by their peers, ie. 2 teachers selected by staff and 2 parents selected by parents as follows:
 
  • Classroom teachers selected by teachers
  • Other school staff members (classified or certificated) selected by their peers
  • Parents or community members selected by parents
  • The school principal shall be an ex officio member of the council with voting rights.
  • Council members shall be elected by peers for two year terms
